What To Expect After Osteopathy Session

First step: relax

Before anything else occurs, your osteopath will ask you how you are feeling generally. They give you some simple osteopathic exercises that can be done at home during your initial osteopathic consultation (although it’s worth noting these aren’t mandatory). If they don’t ask this question – make sure to tell them whether or not you feel tense or stressed. Your treatment will be more successful if you’re relaxed and comfortable.

Next up: relax even more

Your osteopath may also want to check your shoulder blades and spine, which is a great way of relaxing the muscles of the upper back. Osteopaths can use different techniques, such as gentle pressure or light massage, to help ensure your osteopathic experience is relaxing and stress-free. As well as targeting areas you feel tense, they may also recommend some thorough osteopathy stretching exercises

Using hands-on therapy on the body’s muscles, tendons and related structures (the connective tissues that surround muscles), practitioners aim to improve movement and function of the entire body. Sometimes they use massage techniques or even some light stretches in order to relax their patients before practising osteopathy.

By ensuring their patients are relaxed, chances are practitioners will get the best results during the actual osteopathy process – which means more positive changes for you.

What will osteopathy feel like?

Osteopathic treatment usually feels quite gentle. Relaxing or stretching osteopathic techniques may be applied and osteopaths commonly use their hands when treating their patients. Osteopaths aim to encourage your body’s osteopathic system to work at an optimal level.

It’s no exaggeration to say osteopathy works miracles, and is only going to benefit you by trying it out for yourself.

Then why not give it a try anyway? There is nothing at all to lose from trying, but everything to gain from the various ways osteopathy can help you – from reducing or eliminating your pain altogether, to helping you discover invisible muscles that just need releasing before they cause major problems in the future. And if your first experience of osteopathy isn’t quite what you’d hoped, there’s always next time!

Osteopaths are trained professionals who will be able to deal with any osteopathy, so just tell them how you feel. This way osteopathy can change your life for the better!
